Sports and Games

During the Renaissance, many relaxed in the evening after working with some games. Some of the most popular games were cards and chess. Another popular sport was archery. Archery was a sport where many would practice the bow during their free time. It was quite common during the thirteenth and sixteenth century. Sometimes, rustic boys would play football. Often, they would fill a blown pig bladder with beans to play. It was banned for a time because it impeded archery. Fencing was another competitive sport. There were three levels to fencing. A master's, a provost's, and a scholar's. A prize was played for each of these, sometimes, in open spaces or in a square.
This is Mob Football, where many people play football in an area.
